Nubs Nob Ski Area

From the beginning in 1957 Dorie and Nub Sarns knew that this hill in the great Michigan outdoors was going to be some place special. They cleared the trees and installed a double chairlift, and opened for business. In 1964 the slope "Crazy Otto" opened named after the groomer Otto Washburn. In 1992 they open a 10 acre beginner slope that is free, the first free slope in the US. In 1993 Nub's Nob is voted the "Midwest's Best Snow" for the first time. Nub’s Nob offers 53 ski slopes and trails on 3 separate peaks, friendly staff, fresh homemade food, an award winning lodge and the most highly decorated crew! They believe the single most important ingredient for ski/snowboard resort is Great Snow and it is the #1 priority at Nub’s Nob. While the areas natural snowfall average around the 123” per year mark, artificial snowmaking is the lifeblood of the area. Nub’s Nob is commitment to producing the finest man made snow surfaces is the cornerstone of their mission.
