Brengman Brothers present their Crain Hill Vineyard and Wine Tasting facility to the region. The vineyard and tasting facility are located in Elmwood Township, bordering on Traverse City limits on West Bay.

Our interest in wine came quite naturally, just like it does for most people, a cool, bright Riesling on a warm afternoon, a mammoth California Zinfandel with a pile of BBQ Ribs, and pretty much everything in-between.

Like many of us, our histories begin with our dreams fueling a way of life. Originally from the Detroit area, Walter and Eileen Brys visited the Napa Valley in the 1970's as part of a business trip when Walter worked for Blue Cross of Michigan shortly after they were married.

Villa Mari founder Marty Lagina made the (some would say) crazy choice to grow grapes that shouldn't grow in Michigan, with the belief that he could produce world class wines that otherwise couldn't be made here. So, true to his Italian heritage, he planted exotic varieties like Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and others.

The Harrietta Blueberry Festival began in 2007 when local residents wanted to organize an event to bring community members together. Choosing a locally grown product to celebrate provided a great reason to have games, live music, a parade and of course blueberry pancakes, pies and sundaes.

Short's Brewing Company is a great story about a man following his love of beer and music and making a living doing what he loves. Stop in for something to eat some great craft beer and even take the tour at the Bellaire Brewpub and Elk Rapids Production facility. Tours share the fundamentals of both facilities on Sundays by appointment only.

WaterFire is family-owned and run by Chantal and Mike, who live on the vineyard with their son. As an environmental scientist and wine lover, grape growing resonated with Chantal as a way to connect herself and others with the land.
